Castries, Saint Lucia – September 23, 2026 – Saint Lucia has been recognised as the No. 1 Island on Expedia’s 2026 Hot List, a prestigious accolade presented to the destination on Saturday evening during the Saint Lucia Showcase International Gala. The recognition shines a spotlight on Saint Lucia’s growing appeal among international travellers and celebrates the island’s distinctive combination of natural beauty, immersive experiences, vibrant culture and warm hospitality.

The award was presented by Nuno Sales da Ponte, Director of Market Management, Caribbean and Central America and Miguelina Cespedes, Senior Business Development Manager, Caribbean, both representing Expedia Group and received by the Honourable Dr. Ernest Hilaire, Minister for Tourism, Commerce, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Heritage, alongside tourism delegates representing the sector’s lead agencies. The presentation formed part of an evening celebrating Saint Lucia’s continued growth and strengthening position within the international tourism marketplace.

Reflecting on the recognition, Minister Hilaire remarked; “To receive this recognition in this setting was particularly special. I was genuinely surprised by the presentation, but I could not think of a more fitting moment to receive it. To stand before our international trade partners and media colleagues who had travelled to Saint Lucia to experience our destination, our people and our hospitality, and to accept this recognition on behalf of Saint Lucia, is something I am extremely proud of. It is a powerful affirmation of the work that we are doing to position Saint Lucia on the global stage, and I hope that everyone present left with an even deeper appreciation of why Saint Lucia continues to inspire travellers from around the world.”

The accolade also reinforces the value of Saint Lucia’s partnership with Expedia in showcasing the destination to travellers across key markets. As the island continues to expand its global tourism presence, being named the No. 1 Island on the 2026 Hot List provides a powerful platform to inspire more travellers to experience Saint Lucia and appreciate why there is truly nowhere else quite like Her.
