SLTA Celebrates Julien Alfred and her 2024 Gold &Silver Olympic Wins

Visitors are Invited to Explore Saint Lucia Like an Olympian

The fastest woman in the world, 2024 Olympic Gold and Silver Medalist Julien Alfred, calls the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia home. Saint Lucia is the only country named for a woman — and Julien’s record-breaking win is a major source of pride for all Saint Lucians.

Inspired by Julien’s performance? Julien trained in formal facilities as well as in nature, among the spectacular natural environment of Saint Lucia — which is comprised of beaches, rolling hills, mountains and of course, the rainforest.

Visitors are invited to explore the many locations in Saint Lucia where Julien has trained since her youth, as recommended by her former Saint Lucian trainer:

  • Soufriere Mini Stadium is a formal training facility with a view of the Pitons, a picturesque place to see where Julien used to train.
  • Julien has enjoyed the healing properties of the world-renowned, soothing mud baths at the Sulphur Springs natural hot springs in Soufriere.
  • She has also trained on the powdery sand of Vigie Beach, just five minutes from Castries. The beach is a local favorite, with calm blue waters fringed by palm trees.

In addition to being the homeland of Olympian Julian Alfred, Saint Lucia is world-famous for a wide range of wellness and fitness activities. Below are some of the activities available for all levels of fitness and adventure seekers:

  • At Pigeon Island National Landmark, explore the ruins and climb to Fort Rodney, which offers a panoramic view of the Northwest coastline.
  • Tet Paul Nature Trail is family-friendly, easy nature hike with stunning views from the top; learn about the island’s history, local agriculture and even traditional medicinal plants along the way.
  • There are dozens of exhilarating experiences like ATV and ziplining adventures, picturesque waterfall hikes and more in Saint Lucia; click here for more excursions.
